I just recently gotten a new motherboard, processor and ram for my computer. This motherboard has IDE and SATA slots, with my two hdd's being IDE, and I have an adapter for IDE to SATA for my dvd rw drive.

I need to boot up on the DVD drive to upgrade my OS, but bios doesn't detect the drive, and gives the Atapi not compatible press F1 to continue message, with hitting F1 skips to booting up from the IDE hdd's. Any way to fix this?
Edit: Also the board has 6 sata slots with 1 sata e1 slot, e1 being black and the 6 being blue.
