My boyfriend and have been together for 2 years. We live together. Every now and then we will go in the garage and have a couple drinks together and talk about things, or just catch up if we were both busy that week. But I haven't done it for awhile, because I think he has a problem.
He is laid off in the winter time, and I work everyday from 7-4...So I don't stay up very late during the week. I don't ever expect him to follow me to bed every night, but I get very annoyed and frustrated when I find out he is sitting in the garage drinking by himself.
I'm not talkin just a few beers...IF it's beer at all, he normally drinks at LEAST 8, if not the whole 12 pack alone. But most of the time, he drinks hard alcohol. Vodka, or Rum. He calls them "cocktails" but he puts in more WAY more booze than coke in his drinks.
I know he was stressed out before, but things that were going on then have cleared the air, and everything is going really good.
Am I overreacting about this?? I've never dealth with anyone that I thought had a "alcohol problem". I know it's very serious, but when I mention anything to him..like, it's not healthy for him to be drinking alone...THAT much, like 4 times a week if not more...he gets really offended, and usually walks away from me.
Also, just to confirm...from what I can see, he does drink to GET drunk. There have been a few times here and there that he comes to bed early with no drinks, or he has 2 beers and comes inside. We love eachother, but I feel like this is pushing me away from him. Like last night for example..we had dinner with my neice, put her to bed...and he started having a couple "drinks" DURING dinner (at 7 pm). At that time, there was over half a liter of Sailor Jerry left. We watched a movie together upstairs (he was still drinking). I went to bed at ten thirty...I don't even know when he came inside. But when I left for work this morning, Sailor Jerry was empty and in the trash. It breaks my heart! I've tried talking to him to make sure he is ok..that nothing is going on he isn't telling me, but he claims he is totally fine.
Any comments would help..? I appreciate it guys...
