California's driver's permit test help?

I'm 16 yrs old and im planning on taking my permit test very soon. I already filled out a DL 44 form, but im wondering if that's all i needed(besides documents backing up my name and birth date and such) I dont need to go to driver's ed and all that do i?
Im thinking i just take the test to get the permit...

hmmm someone who has been through this already mind telling me some info?

OH!! and also...the permit test...what are the questions focused on?

the laws vary from states to state. In California driver's ed is mandatory and you must bring your certificate to the DMV.
