If you're Pagan, Wiccan, Setian, Asa, or any of the likes, feel free to come here and discuss those things.

All I am trying to do is promote people like us to step out of the shadows, nothing more.

If you are one, please respond.

BTW, even if you're not, feel free to post here about questions or whatever you like to talk about.

However, please don't disrespect. We already recieve enough resentment from various people and religions.

OK that was a ratehr interesting exerpt from someones Book of Shadows. And Wha is thr root chakra... I hate it when Neo pagan or wiccans use Hindu terms.

I breifly made a foray into neo-paganism. The one thing I like and hate about it, its teh same thing lol, is that its a really this giant mish mash of philophis and ideologies. I mean I know wciccans who dont use the celt gods as the from of the God and Goddes they worship they instead choose to worship the God and Goddess in teh forms of the Egyptian gods.
my Gf is Wiccan, sorta. She didnt even know that Halloween is the Celtic new year, silly girl.

But um yeah Im not really neo-Pagan Im actaullly catholic with strong Heretical Leanings. Shhhhh I dont want the Pope to Excomunicate me. id hate to ahve to from my own church.

Actually, Halloween, meaning Hallowed evening, is a Christian holiday where they were to remember the saints. I wouldn't be surprised if it was put on that date so they could keep celebrating the say days. Bet I bet they changed the name, Halloween.

That's because most people that belive those religions are 14 year olds that want to be "different" and don't know what the hell they're doing. They saw it in a movie or read it in some book and think it's cool. I've never met someone who's actually serious about it, so I can't comment on the religion itself.

PL

Ive met all of like three peopl who were actually serious aobut it and they all ove the age of 30. NMoist if teh neo-pagans ive met are doing it cus its "different" like all the "goths" and "punks" i see. An they are messign around with things they really dont understand> I got into is because I wanted to know more aobut the religions of my ansectors bfore christianty came through and destroyed stuff. I could really came less about "Magick" ti s like Chi a way o explain forces we dont quite understand and can barely explain.

Let me explain the history of both Wicca and Paganism, and why we use the term "Neopaganism" rather than simply "Paganism."

Hopefully this will clear up your understanding a bit more.

Anyways, here goes. . . . .

Paganism itself traces back centuries. . . . . into various cultures, most notably Scandinavian/Celtic/Norse. Now, rites, druids, etc, etc, etc, have been around for countless ages. This is the true "Paganism" that the word refers to today.

However, Wicca is something different (note I'm not Wiccan - I define them separately). Wicca itself is not "centuries old tradition" as most "Wiccans" claim it to be. In fact, it's like what, a few decades old.

Why??? First of all, Wicca is the new tradition, NOT Paganism. Wicca is basically "new-age" Occultism, recreated in such a way as to try to form an "organized" and "official" religion for those that practice such "magick."

There are no "century-old" rites, rituals, spells, etc, etc, etc for Wicca. All it is is a postmodern system of trying to organize the ancient practices of magick, druidism, and etc.

Now, onto "Neopaganism." This term is used to describe "new-age" Pagans (to most, Wicca included - most see no difference). Because in this new age, Paganism has evolved from its ancient roots. Things are different. . . .although I'd rather not get into it right now, it can take a while to explain.

Basically, in this new age Paganism is ALOT different from its ancient counterpart, while retaining many of the same stuff.

I know this sounds REALLY confusing, and I just can't explain it quite well, but bare with me.

I see Neopaganism and Wicca as different things - this is how I view them. (note this is personal opinion, not fact, so feel free to disagree with me).

NP and Wicca are different becasue their focus is on different aspects. All Neopaganism really is, is a modern way of celebrating Pagan beliefs and such, and a more liberal means of excercising it.

Wicca, on the other hand, is a systematic approach to organize Occultism and to create order to it. Which is why I abhor "Wicca" not "Neopaganism".

Again, simply my own opinions.

That's because most people do it for that reason. And that is why we get such a bad reputation, because most of the so-called "practitioners" are complete morons who has no idea what they are doing.

I assure you, I take this very seriously. It is part of my life, and I will live by it. It's not some sort of joke I make, nor do I see it as a religion at all.

It is simply a means of living life as full as I can - that's the best way I can put it.

PS - Last Night, on Samhain (THE most powerful Sabbat of the year), I have just performed a self-initiation ritual into the powers of Darkness, Shadows, and Night. Although lacking in material and preparation, I believe the time helped me quite a bit, and I strongly think it was successful (although not as successful as it could've been).

So, now I start my journey.

and I hate it when people who claim to be christian support the death penalty , I hate it when people who claim to be christians talk about turning the middle east into a glass parking lot ... I hate it when christians confuse and or miss use the terms wiccan and pagan .

Wicca is very specific refering to Worship of the moon Goddess Diana ( but people toss it around so much it means just about diddly poo poo).. dictionary dot com says :

1. A polytheistic Neo-Pagan nature religion inspired by various pre-Christian western European beliefs, whose central deity is a mother goddess and which includes the use of herbal magic and benign witchcraft.
2. A group or community of believers or followers of this religion.

Pagan is very general term , technicaly meaning country dweller but according to dictionary dot com pagan means :
1. One who is not a Christian, Muslim, or Jew, especially a worshiper of a polytheistic religion.
2. One who has no religion.
3. A non-Christian.
4. A hedonist.
5. A Neo-Pagan.

so umm Hindu's are PAGAN !!!!!!1!!!1!!!!!one!!!!!!!eleven!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

People learn and grow and change . Sometimes people lie and cheat and steal concepts from one religion and then apply it sinfully to another ( Do some real research on the background of modern religious holidays and their astronomical histories like Cudgel did ... even though he used a partisian book of the devil to back it up ).

this is what happens when you refuse to be fluid in life and live in a intellectual vaccum devoid of new trains of thought ... maybe some of you can understand this analogy bettter :

All the korean forms of martial arts just stolen from the japs ... yup so d*mn it you hapkido'ists STOP USING JAPANESE TERMS !!! And you karate people stop speaking english ! And you Foolish jkd people sheesh you guys are all screwed up !!!! offtopic I wont even touch those idiots how could they DARE combine Multiple schools of THOUGHT and combat philosophy stop using terms from other cultures stay ignorant and for gods sakes people STOP THINKING FOR YOUR SELVES ....and when you do just make it up dont use any sources or terms or concepts .

there you go Cudgel is that a little better ? doesnt seem to make much sense to me not to mention ignorant .. but thats what happens when you refuse to learn about other cultures and maybe even accept some of what is said as a piece of the Truth ?

and Cudgel mad props for even bothering to look for some truth ... but why poop on someone for making a funny ....and to get to the informative nonsarcastic part of this rant:

the root chakra is the groin chakra also referred to as the base chakra and the Muladhara commonly represented as the four petal'd lotus and the color red .

Sorry for the heavy dose of sarcasm and hostile flamethrowing it is suppose to be entertaining ... mods if needs be burn this post ....

P.S. ummm what you do for Ritual should be kept silent .. when spoken it comes off as hokey and juvenile ... I know its not to you and me but when you post on boards .. please look at what you say with a blank mind .. or a christian mind ... everyone just read you dedicated your life to darkness shadows and EVIL AND TERRORISTIC ANTI_CHRISTIAN acts . while it may not be true .... I am sure some will happily read it that way .. be well and blessed be there are reasons why one rule of magic is silence ...

Let me explain myself a little more. I am merely stating my iniation. I am glad of my initiation. I am proud of myself.

A little "lights up" (ironic, isn't it??? lighting up darkness, lol!!!).

A. Good/Evil and Light/Dark are on different spectrums. Light/Dark has NOTHING to do with Good/Evil. It's just that people are quite. . . . . ignorant of that fact.

If you think that everything that is dark is evil, so be it. Live in your own little world. . . . . for Night has beauties it shall never reveal to those who cannot accept it.

Is the moon evil??? I think not. Night and Darkness is very natural, a very tangible part of the universe, just as is Light. Neither is Good or Evil. . . . they are merely. . . . paths, directions you take.

A Good person may be very Dark, while an Evil person may be extremely Light-oriented.

Quick get some marhsmallows

I noted and got all the humor/sracasm. and It was a refreshing bit of flamingishness. it was just alittle bit of a personal bias against new age Occultism with its strange belnd of stuff. I had figured that the root chackra was the groin.

And Infrazeal ith all do respect you are sounded a wee bit hokey. maybe you should choose different words to describe the forces of teh night and of the day......

I am a pagan, but only insofar as labels others like to put upon me. Technically I am an occultist, but even that is a convenient label. I have never felt teh urge to scream out my beliefs, nor have I ever hidden them. However. I am NOT a "neo" anything for the previously stated - and valid - reason that it is a mish-mash of various systems and beliefs.

I tilt towards the Thelemic, but even here it is not that simple. Certainly in my work I have to be discreet, but I never deny what I am.

You are seriously putting those two statements together?

The beyond is not a game and you are doing the occult equivalent of learning martial arts from a book and then entering the UFC.

Tread carefully and if I were you I would keep my third eye open.

I've read:
"Pagan Paths: A Guide to Wicca, Druidry, Asatru, Shamanism and Other Pagan Practices" by Peter Jennings. I found it very interesting and I've nothing but respect for all the pagans and witches I've ever met.
I find it bizzare that they get so much stick, alot of people have a real knee jerk reaction to it. The bishop in my local town recently made a public declaration in the local papers that all the pagans were going to hell etc [insert christian dogma here]. Which made me very angry given how open minded all the pagans I've met have been when it comes to other religions.
