Can a GMC safari tow a horse trailer.?

I just bought an 05' GMC Safari van AWD, it has a towing capacity of 5000 ( I heard it had more but this was the minimum) I know you would normally want a large truck or SUV for towing but I also have been warned to beware of dealers selling you "more truck then you need." I have an Arabian mare that I may be showing next year and would probably search around for a small light two horse trailer, no bells and whistles just something to get the job done, I didn't buy the van to tow with I bought it for cargo use but, was wondering if my van could also tow safely. Anyone have any idea's? or have used vans to tow?
