Can a hotel room key ruin your cell phone or cell phone battery?

i recently had went to stay in a hotel.. and my cell phone was in my pocket along with the room key..
and now my phone dies very quickly, its a touch screen phone and the light on it goes all weird..

so would i just need to get a new battery or am i better off buying a new phone..?

It should be the other way around. A cell phone can quickly deactivate a room key.

As for your phone, I can't say for certain. Go to a phone repair shop or contact your mobile provider to get a new one.
