Can a news paper take your picture without your consent?

If they take your picture and put private infomation about you, like your sexual preference is that allowed? and if not what can be done about it?
 
yes they can. it happens to celebrities all the time.

if your not happy about something written about you in the paper, write and complain to them.
 
To the above, I didn't know that they could. I mean they could take your picture, but under the Data Protection Act surely they're not allowed to without your consent?

I mean I don't do law or anything... so I'm not sure - but I wouldn't be sure if they are allowed....
 
IN the UK they can...that's why the Paparazzie are doing so well! They cannot do it if it is a minor..like under 18.
