yes, The 3ds is backwards compatible with Standard ds games

You just can't play them in 3d

as for how much would you get - it depends where you are trading it in at

yes ds games can played in 3ds. And its kind of not worth it to trade in your dsi xl because in most cases you still have to pay 75% of the full price. I would just sell it to a friend or ebay.
