Can a rooted Android phone get the official 2.2 Froyo update from Samsung?

I have a rooted Samsung Captivate, but I have not flashed any ROM's to it. I am still running 2.1 Eclair. The only difference is the fact that it is rooted. I was wondering if I will still be able to recieve the official 2.2 Froyo update when Samsung releases it, or if I am stuck to having to continuously flash new ROM's.
 
I have a rooted Vibrant (T-Mobile's Galaxy S), and I recieved the OTA update last week, but the update failed until I put it back to factory settings (temporarily unrooted) and reinstalled.
