can any dvd writer burn on dual layer DVD's?

Is any DVD writer capable of writing onto Dual Layer discs?? Ive got some video files that i want to stick onto disc but they're too big for a normal DVD disc, will using a dual layer DVD be ok?? Thanks in advance

Check out the specs of the burner on a website. Pretty much all of them can, only a few really old drives cannont.

No. Most DVD writers that you buy these days are dual layer, but if you've got one of the older ones it won't recognise the disk and it may turn it into a coaster. A dual layer recording DVD drive for a desktop will set you back about £12 and it's a straight replacement for the existing one.
