I just can't get it!
3 girls paid $100 each, a total of $300 to share a motel room. Later, the desk clerk realizing she should have only charged $250, gives the room attendant $50 and asks him to return it to the 3 girls. Unable to divide the money 3 ways he decides to give $10 to each girl and pockets the remaning $20. The girls have now paid $90 each or $270 for the room and the room attendant has $20. What happened to the other 10?

I've seen this riddle in a hundred different forms, but you messed up the wording so the riddle doesn't work. 250 + the 10 dollars back to three people equals 280, plus the 20 the guy kept is 300. I'm not trying to pop your bubble but you just worded it poorly. Think about it and try again.

You're confusing the allocation of $$. the comparison is wlth the $250 price they should have paid. The clerk has the $20 that is the difference between what was paid $270 and what was charged.

This is one of those questions meant to confuse you. There never was a $10 extra nor missing. The number $250 (the cost of the room adjusted) is not divisible by 3 (girls). So the answer really is the $10 is in the $250.

However, if you want it back, flirt with the guy and maybe he'll give you $10 to make it $240, meaning each girl paid $80 evenly and will get $20 back.
