Can I connect my directv dvr to my laptop via eSATA?

So I was looking into expanding my dvr memory and one option was an esata hard drive... Well now that I look at my laptop, I see that It has an eSATA port as well. Would I be able to connect these two devices and then watch the shows and movies on my laptop?
