Can I get a HD box (with Freeview) without having to get rid of my DVD recorder?

I have a Sony HD ready TV and a Freeview Panasonic DVD recorder, which I am delighted with and would not want to get rid of. Can I get a HD box which would cover the Freeview channels that have HD without having to ditch my DVD recorder. If so any recommendations?
