...using a usb adapter? I know it's possible to install to a laptop, but can it boot to wifi using a usb wifi adapter?
I mean is it somehow possible to port the usb adapter software to android for that the laptop i was thinking of using has only an external usb wifi adapter.

reason is i was thinking of purchasing a tablet, and i have an old dell inspiron 2650 with a 1.5ghz pent4 mobile and a 20gb hardrive.
ok. Thanks for the info i will try it.

Android (operating system) was designed for smart phones and tablets not PC's and you will have a hard time finding drivers that will work if you even can. A USB or card type wireless adapter works the same as a internal wireless card sow that should make no difference.
