Can I upgrade my dish receiver to dvr?

I just got dish network and presently have a 222k receiver, can I buy a 722k dvr and just plug it in and not pay monthly $7 more?

Most likely not. I'm not a Dish customer, but in general, pay-TV providers in the U.S. do not sell their DVRs; you have to pay the monthly fee. (Beware of those you see on eBay or Craigslist -- you can bet that they're stolen.)
