can i use one power supply for motherboard and another one to power dvd

drive and hard disk? Currently using a power supply 480 w to power ( motherboard , 2 hard disks and 2 dvd drives) . I was planning to use my old power supply 400 W to power my 2 hard disks and 2 dvd drives.

no each computer must have one power supply

as long as there is cable hook ups to the mother board for the extra stuff it doesn't matter how you power them, as long as they get power. but you'll be using a lot of power, you should consider investing in a newer more power efficient supply at some point
