shutdown? I work for a well known appliance manufacturer in Ohio. Every year they have a week of shutdown during the week of July fourth. We are forced to save a week of vacation time (including pay) for that week of shutdown. Is this legal?
My fellow employees and I don't think it's right for our employer to tell us when to take our vacation time. If an employee wants to use vacation time to cover the time lost, then fine. But if they can afford to lose a week of pay then that should be up to them to make that decision.
Any answers would be appreciated.
