I have a 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500, 5.3L V8, 4x4 w/ tow package. The max tow capacity is listed as 8000 lbs. I am interested in purchasing a 24ft Glastron 249 GS which has a dry weight of 4,437 lbs. The trailer, fuel and cargo will add another 1300 lbs for a total wet weight of about 5800 lbs. I plan to use the truck to launch and recover the boat a handful of times per season, the rest of the time the boat will be docked in the water. Is my truck suitable for this type of trailering?
