Can people automatically see that android icon on my chat status, if i am online

on my smartphone? and what about facebook? is there some settings ive gotta change?
if they are online on their computer, i mean.
 
It depends what kind of application theyre using.

If they are using gmail theres an option in the settings to display the icon if they are in fact mobile.
Some programs like trillian sometimes say android-39859583 or pc-845050. Same goes for other apps.

Some apps though it will just display that you are online to them.
