A father gave his three sons their allowance a total of $17.00. To make it a challenge he said that the oldest got half the money, the middle one gets one-third of the money, and the baby gets one ninth. However, it must be in even dollar amounts. How did the boys solve this one?

3 kids
17 dollars allowance
The dirty cheapskate
What is 17 dollars about 10 pound

Tight wad

That doesn't add up. Isn't that:

half = 9/18
third = 6/18
ninth = 2/18

That's only 17/18. Dad is a tightwad. He's keeping an eighteenth of the $17.00.

However, to answer the question, they solved it with a calculator and by getting dad drunker.
