At work the boss man won't allow any programs he doesnt feel is pertinent to the job. I feel if i can run "Open Office" i can process paper work much faster. Is it possible to unpack the program at home...exclusively to my flash drive and then run the program off the flash drive from the work computer?

As long as your company's IT policy allows running programs from flash drives then you can do it. There's a site (http://portableapps.com/) that has installers for lots of free software. The site has lots of online help but basically you download the installer at home, run it as normal but instead of letting it install on your C: drive you tell it to install on the Flash drive. Then you take the flash drive and plug it into your work PC and run the program from there.

My company still uses Internet Explorer 6 for everything. I run Firefox from a flash drive when I'm browsing stuff at work instead.

Here's the link for OpenOffice portable http://portableapps.com/apps/office/openoffice_portable
