Can you use 2 Bluetooth headsets on the same PS3?

We enjoy playing split-screen online and we have two headsets and they are both synced to the PS3 but during online play, only one headset works. We are going to try syncing one headset to each account. Any other ideas, opinions, I would appreciate.
