When I put in a blank DVD+R, absolutely nothing happens. I go into My Computer and I can navigate to drive D(my disc drive) just fine. However when I check the properties it says Used Space: 0 bytes, Free Space: 0 bytes. I tried various burning software but I keep getting errors addressing size issues. I tried updating the drivers but apparently there wasn't anything to update. So what exactly is the problem here? Did my drive just crap out on me, meaning I'm completely fucked because I have no money to replace it?
I thought maybe it was due to the brand of DVD's I use using, Dynex DVD+R' 16x/120min/4.7GB. So I went out and bought some Sony DVD+R's with the same spaces as the Dynex. Obviously this wasn't the case so I just wasted $12 which I really can't afford right now.

If it matters I'm using an HP Pavilion a6230n purchased in '07, it's currently running XP.
specs* One hell of a typo...
I was able to read and burn DVD+R's until just a few days ago.

Older DVD burner shall not take DVD+R. It only reads DVD-R.
You may add one more DVD burner that can take DVD+R

the dvd-r is already a waste. i encountered that often times before when i'm still a novice in burning. buy a new one. i often burn dvd copies and i use often times the sony brand because i can assure it's good and it will last long. data will not be easily corrupted.
