We've had Internet Explorer for years as our default browser. Now all of a sudden, it's just GONE! Saying "webpage not available". We didn't change anything. So now I'm getting on internet by Mozilla Firefox, but I can't do anything. It keeps telling me I have to have these plug-ins for everything (like Adobe Flash, etc...which we HAVE...or HAD). When I try and go ahead and download it, it continues to have a bar at the top saying "Firefox will not allow this download". What's going on? Could it be a virus?
Thanks 13 and Dex Luther! Good and very detailed info from both of y'all! But I just wanted to mention that I have tried to re-install those plugins, but I still continue to get that bar across top saying something about "firefox requires this plugin" (like Adobe Flash)....even AFTER I thought I downloaded it again (several attemps actually).

Well the fact that your Internet Explorer is suddenly gone certainly points to the possibility of a virus being present. You'll want to have that checked out.

Firefox definitely is a better browser than IE though. Once you get used to it, I'm sure you'll agree.

Firefox is asking you to install flash player (again) because the version used by IE isn't the same/compatible with Firefox.

You'll want to go here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:7

Download adobe Flash player. It'll save a file on your computer that you'll have to run to install it. While you're at it I would go ahead and install the windows media player plug in as well as the java one. You'll probably save your self some hassle later on.

I'd also suggest you head over here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1122

and install tab mix plus. It has a nice little feature that keeps everything in one window (I don't remember if this option is on by default) and it automatically opens links to new websites in a new tab.

It's always rather annoying to be reading an article and they give you a link to more info about something and that link opens in the same window/tab meaning you have to hit the back button (sometimes several times) to go back and continue reading the article. This plug in takes that annoyance away.

Hope this helps!
