Capturing Video from a DVD?

In short, I would like to capture some video from various DVD movies and put them all together to run in a clip. I have never done it before and would like to know if there is some software out there (that won't cost an arm and a leg) where I can run the movie on my computer, capture the scenes I want, put them together and perhaps even add my own music to the compilation. Since I have no experience at this, the software would need to be fairly easy to use. I have a laptop running XP Professional with 2 GB of RAM and a Pentium 1.7 GHz processor. I also have a desktop with 4 GB of RAM, 2.4 GHz Pentium Processor running Windows Vista. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I think you can try iMovie DVD Ripper. It can help you get different videos from DVD. It is a professional dvd ripping program which can rip and convert dvd to other video and audio formats with high quality and fast speed. It can be used to rip dvd to other formats like MP4, AVI, WMV, MKV, FLV, MP3, AAC, AC3, WMA, etc. It can also used to rip dvd to portable players like iPod, iPhone, Apple TV, etc.

Here is a detailed introduction to this ripper:
