I ran a 4 gauge monster cable from my battery to my audio system. where the cable meets the distribution block the DB block burnt out and the wire from there on melted and burnt the other audio wires it was connected to. I do not see anything wrong with my wire connecting my battery to the essential engine parts of my car (i ran a separate wire for the audio) but my car still will not start and it turned off when it started smoking. is the battery ruined or am I missing something and if so how do I check if the battery needs to be replaced
also, only the wires running to non-essential items, like my speakers have been affected because i ran a separate wire from the battery to those, the computer was not involved on this wire circuit

You could have burnt your computer out. You need a professional.

First, you've got a short somewhere in your audio system...That's about the only thing that could overheat 4 gage wire, unless you have like ten 1,000 watt amplifiers going. Unhook ALL of the power to your audio system, safely, then see if the car will start. If the car starts & runs okay, buy a lottery ticket, because this is your lucky day. Then, double-triple check every inch of the wiring & every connection of your system, because something is very wrong....
