was driving through the gate and it started to close on me though I had a pass and the light turned on for me to go forward. As I drove by, the gate hit the side mirror and it swund inward. I immediately pulled over as soon as possible to assess damage but it appeared that there were just a few scuff marks on black plastic of the mirror. The mirrors seemed to move just fine and everything. I didn't tell my parents because I thought it was ok and they tend to get extrememly angry very easily and over some of the smallest things so I was afraid of what would happen here even though everything seemed ok. Well it happened last night. It is for the most part my car. My parents hardly drive it. Well they decided to drive it this morning and noticed something that I didn't. I don't know for sure but they said something about it being broken and the glass. The called me saying that they think that someone vandalized my car. I panicked so I didn't mention what happened. Needless to say, now I can't say or they will get really mad at me saying that I lied to them. They are going to look at it later since they were driving when they noticed. Is there a chance they could figure out that it wasn't someone else? They said they will just have to get it fixed and submit it to car insurance. What's going to happen? I am majorly freaked and feel so bad! I didn't mean to; maybe if I was 5 mph instead of 10 mph I could have avoided the gate as it started to swing shut on me. However, I know my parents and I know they won't believe me. If I go with what they are saying, could I be found out? I am actually an honest good person and my gut tells me to tell regardless, but I know my parents all too well and know that maybe that wouldn't be the best solution. I am not worried about them taking away my car. Their punnishments are well more severe. I am just scared I could be found out. I already feel guilty enough as is. I know it is horrible, but in this case, I am not asking what the moral thing to do is but asking. Thank you and I'm sorry!
