car stereo broken....................................?

why would my car stereo have power and not work, my car nearly stalled then my car stereo which is a standard maestro 260w Radio/Tape head unit stopped working, it still illuminates and comes up with one single line onscreen but doesn't turn off unless car is off, no sound also the ariel doesn'tt come up.
