I have a 98 nissan micra which had the original cassette player, i just put in a pioneer cd player and the 1amp in-line fuse blew. I replaced it with a 2amp, is this safe??? I dont want to start a fire.

You have a grounding issue, recheck all of your wiring to make sure they are connected correctly and have no bare spots that are causeing a potential ground problem. It's never safe to replace a fuse with a bigger fuse, there is a problem somewhere, If the manufacturer wanted you to use a bigger fuse, then they would've designed the radio to run on a bigger fuse. They design it to run on that fuse size, if it won't, then you have a problem.
