I just got home from the store and my vents won't shut off! I have an 04 Pontiac Grand Prix. The a/c will switch on and off, but the vent continues to blow on high. I can't change the speed on the vent nor get it to turn of, even after restarting the car a few times. Go figure I can't get in touch with my husband either and he won't be home for another two hours. Should I disconnect the battery to see if that will turn it off so I don't kill it? Any suggestions on what could be wrong? Thank you so much in advance!

You know it could be the cars way of cooling off. My old Saab used to do that, the vents would run for a couple minutes and then turn off. But i don't know watch it for a while and maybe they will turn off, it they don't turn off then it would be wise to disconnect the battery.

It probably has a bad ignition switch (electrical portion). It short circuits causing this problem.

Disconnect the battery to make sure it doesn't run down. When you get home have the car looked at. Then you won't be out stranded somewhere.
