Choosing a good deer hunting rifle?

I will be rifle hunting this season (bow hunter) and I am looking for a good, timeless, and reliable rifle. The equivalent in reliability and quality as a Mossberg 500 for shotguns. Im looking for bolt action and it can shoot any cartridge .308 and above. Im not looking for anything fancy or new, just a quality rifle thats not to expensive (will probably be buying used anyway).

Oh I will be hunting whitetail deer.
