Christians, how do you practise, 'to speak the truth in love' in your life?

In individual situations, relationships when things come up, divisive,

or, things you didn't know about the other person that one of
you thinks of wrong.

In the 'world', a big part of it is to say 'Oh, that's Such and such'
or 'that's their problem' so when the people get together it
seems OK, but then the gossip can hum later, and people
will talk behind each other's backs.

So as Christians, we are to ...'speak', that would be one thing.
Then it is to be 'truth' and if we are both Christian, that can
get 'delicate'

and then, 'in love' which also needs explaining.

So, how do you do this when your relationship with someone
close to you, or perhaps it is a casual one at church...

when it hits a bump in the road,

how successful are you with this?

I know some of the things I do, and would like to hear how you
practise this.

sharing to others the truth of Jesus w/ love peace and hope in your heart, and not hypocrisy or w/ partiality.
 
Not sure I understand your question very well but here's what I do:

I have found that being direct and confrontational about issues that bother me is the best way to avoid talking behind someones back. I tell them to their face what I think of something they've said or done, or if it's not necessary (can't edify the person nor encourage positive change through confronting them) then I forget about it. Sometimes it's good to just humble yourself and take the blame for an argument for the sake of peace (without any self-righteousness or a show of exaggerated humility). It opens the way for the other person to realize and possibly acknowledge their mistakes as well. It's not easy but it's worth it.

Also, it helps to put yourself in people's shoes and to show some understanding, it helps me to be less critical/judgmental and more supportive - which is an act of love.

Honestly only Jesus can tell you this of each of us. I can say this or that but only Jesus can tell you the whole truth of it. I could be right or wrong in what I tell you so I will say nothing lest I unintentionally mislead or deceive you. For I am nothing without Christ.

We are to tell the truth in love. This by doing it in a caring and loving manner, but do we do this and how well? only Jesus knows this of us all.
The truth is always good, but not always best to be heard at certain times. We are to discern when to tell the truth (in whole) and when to say nothing. Never lie, but there are times to speak the truth and times to be quiet as well.
For the tongue can do irreparable damage, so we really need to control it and what it says. One inerrant word can do much damage, just as a well placed word does good.
