Christians, if you weren't threatened with the idea of hell(or "gift" of heaven)

would you still be Christians? Why?

lol no they would find a different selfish religion and claim Odin loves them all the time

Sure would. Following Jesus and living His way of life is about a relationship that's amazing and a way of life that brings peace, joy, and love like no other we know.

Sure.

I marvel at the universe and do not care whether or not I am rewarded for the content of my life. Doing unto others as I would have done to me as thus far proven a good rule to live by.
Rejection of materialism has also granted me significant personal tranquility.

And I would borrow from a Sufi who said: If I worship God out of fear of hell or hope for heaven then send me to hell.

I don't sweat the small stuff.

Yes. I choose to be Christian. It's a longer story than anyone on R&S cares to read.

The "gift, of heaven" is not about how splendid, serene, beautiful or what not....The point is to be with Christ Yeshua. Loving Him IS heaven on earth. Seriously.

Besides Satan and his fiery bbq of doom, they have many other things to be scared off.....karma, spiders, zombies, 2012 and all the other doomsdays they've been planning, bears, Atheists....the list goes on.

That's not why people are Christians, We are Christians because we know and Love God. and because of the love He has for us.

I was never threatened with Hell or promised heaven, I know that only the forgiven get to go to heaven, and I found out that Christ came to the Earth to pay for our sins and died on the cross for us. I also learned that he rose again 3 days later and ascended to heaven. If somebody said that they were God, and they were here to save your life, then died and came back to life, wouldn't you follow them and want to spend eternity with them?
