clunking sound when i am coming to a stop in my 2002 jeep grand cherokee?

i have a 2002 jeep grand cherokee laredo 4x4 and when im breaking and almost come to a stop at stop lights or stop signs i hear a clunking sound.What is the problem with my Jeep and how can it be fixed????
