I am planning my IB Historical Investigation and need help finding my subject. I want to write on the Cold War. I have considered the Cuban Missile Crisis, but consider it to easy. Apparently many students write on this topic, which directs me in a search for a topic, that might be just as interesting, but maybe not a well-known to the public. Subjects like "The Bay of Pigs Invasion".
As the title suggests, the more interesting, controversial and secretive, the better.

Thanks!
Best wishes,
Fred

Tedward has struck on a point, South America, and Africa both had places that were fought over by proxy.

But Iran in 1953 is worth looking at and the installation of the Palahvi monarchay.

And Guatamala in 1954 and the CIA backed Guzman Government.

Try the following...

- The Gladio stay-behind operation, concentrated mainly in Italy.
- The CIA's secret operations in Laos.
- Project Camelot and Project FUBELT
- COINTELPRO
