Hi, my name is Justin. I am a 18 year old male ready to join the military. I am gay. I am thankful I can say this openly. The only thing I want to do in this world is help those less fortunate and if valued, more fortunate when the time is needed ( can't discriminate ).
Through the long 18 years I have endured trying to understand people and the world. One thought always stuck with me. Why am I so different? Yes, I mean gay, but I also mean," why am I gay?" It is selfish, in my opinion, to question why you are a certain way. So yes, I am being selfish. Through my 18 years, though, I have learned to understand that, being different, always gives you an edge. That certain edge, in my opinion, should be used to conquer obstacles given and used at the right times.
A life without a determined religion - I guess you can say I grew up with no religion, but I still believe there is a god. Meaning I am not an atheist , christian, catholic, jewish, etc. I find religion, including atheism, to be somewhat of a mis interpreted process. If you are to grow up in a household with strict religious boundaries, you seem to lose part of yourself. Yes I am saying that there is a downside to some religions.
So how can you say I have hope in anything, or am a good person? I do have hope in something, only I can establish that. As for a good person, that is your entitled opinion.
Imagine a life where there was a god, but he wasn't the leading percentage of your time. Instead, your time would be used to give others a better life and a better understanding to the people around them. No not atheism, because it seems to me that atheism got their morals from law, and the main tradition of law was based off of religious beliefs. So without being hypocritical, I would like to say that I believe what makes you happy, will give you a more fulfilling "afterlife".
Is there anyone else out there that draws there morals from religion, but still keeps themselves in check with society and the fast changing cultures of today? Are there any people out there that just want to save another, or others?
Please give me your opinions of religion. Then tell me why if there are certain morals that are suppose to keep you in check, people still tend to lose that sense of reality and say that another human being is wrong just because of what they believe?
