connected to xbox live, but not to halo 3 servers?

I am trying to play matchmaking in Halo 3, and I am connected to Live (I can see my online friends and all that), but the matchmaking lobby says something like "You are not connected to Xbox Live, please connect to Xbox Live or become a gold member to play matchmaking."

I am definitely a gold member, and I know my internet connection is fine. I was just playing Halo 3 last night and it was working fine, it just won't work now. I also know I am not banned or anything because I've only played about 40 social games and haven't done anything wrong.

I've obviously restarted xbox/connections, singed in and out, all that. Still not working. Can someone help?

I had the same problem and it turned out to be disc scratched as the problem.
