Connecting speaker cables to a home theatre system?

I got a home theatre system a couple of months ago. The speakers connect to the dvd player using spring terminal connections. The terminals are black and white as opposed to the usual black and red. The cables that i got with the system are not the best and some of them are breaking, so im not getting sound from all my speakers now, which kind of stinks!! my question is.....will my speakers work if i connected them to the dvd player using black and red audio cables??

yes, as long as you keep the positive and negative correct, you can basically use any type but speaker wire is preferred. it doesn't matter what color it is.
