After going three months without getting paid, Deportivo Quito celebrated getting their money last week by beating rivals LDU Quito 3-1. The most spectacular goal of match came shortly after halftime when Walter Calderon lobbed the ball up into the air inside the box, fell down and then scored with a scissor kick volley while on the ground. Calderon then got up and smiled a toothy grin as even he was impressed with the way he scored.
That goal made it 2-0 in Deportivo Quito's favor and proved what you can do when you don't roll around and feign injury every time you fall down.
