"Jene Newsome played by the rules as an Air Force sergeant: She never told anyone in the military she was a lesbian.

The 28-year-old's honorable discharge under the "don't ask, don't tell" policy came only after police officers in Rapid City, S.D., saw an Iowa marriage certificate in her home and told the nearby Ellsworth Air Force Base."

So she follows the rules but the police decide to out her. I think this is disgraceful. What do you think?

The Rapid City, S.D. police department does not fall under the jurisdiction of the Uniform Code of Military Justice and therefore violated no laws or rules.
The military had to act on the information under the requirements of the "don't ask, don't tell" rules put in place by the Clinton administration, as failure to do so would have been a violation of the law.

One could very well question the departments ethics on the matter but as we see from our elected leaders in Congress, ethics becomes just a matter of who does it benefit.
