Here's an ad for a Ford 7.3L diesel 4x4 pickup. http://newlondon.craigslist.org/ctd/1785648423.html

The ad doesn't say the year, the mileage, or even if it is automatic or manual.

Similar Dodge diesels with Cummins engines go for at LEAST DOUBLE.

I recently drove a UHaul truck with Ford gasoline engine. I couldn't see the specs but the largest gasoline engine traditionally has been 460ci.

UHaul used to have a fleet of Ford diesels.

I also drove a GMC diesel with Caterpiller engine.

Comparing Ford diesel, Ford gas, Dodge Cummins and GMC with Caterpiller diesel, which is better for
1) cost of maintenance
2) power

Which is known for major problems like head gasket failure?

your link says that ad is flagged for removal. probably a con man trying to sell of a non existant car.

anyway

petrol engine gives more power but diesel gives more torque. So if you want to accerate quickly then go with petrol. if you want to carry so much heavy load then go with diesel.

What kind of vehicle are you looking for? You're all over the map here with pickups mixed in with mid-size U-Haul and GMC with Cat engines... Pick one size truck and stick with it!

In Pickups...

Up until the 2010 model year, Ford 'Powerstroke' diesels were built by Navistar International, but this year they are are all new Ford built engines, so we'll have to see how they work out as far as long-term reliability.

GMC/Chevy has never offered a pickup truck with a Caterpillar engine. The 'Duramax' engine is built by Isuzu. Cat engines were available in mid size or larger commercial trucks, but Cat has stopped building engines for on-road applications.
