Difficult choice to make, regarding my future..?

What do the people on Y answers think of this? Here is the situation.

Ireland is in a recession and jobs are hard to come by.

I currently work in a crappy job that I don't like and leaves me with no future. But, it's a job and they're hard to come by.

Then there's a Windows Servers and Networks PC course that I can do, which could give me a future.. but it doesn't start for 8 months and there's 18 spots, with 32 already applying for it.

The course teacher says I could probably get one the course. So, here is my question to you all.

Stay at the job? or try make a future for myself?
Course is a full time course for 6 months that I would get paid to do.
Edit sorry forgot to mention, I can't even apply for the course while I'm working. You have to be unemployed.
I also have about 7k in the bank, and I could survive on that + the money I get paid for the course I could survive on. I'm very good with money spending.

Stay at your job till you are sure you have the spot. If you don't get it you'll still have a job to fall back on.
I hope you get the class.

hate to say it, but in this economy, if you have a real job, it's better to hold onto it, no matter if you dislike it. sorry. hopefully things will pick up in the economy at some point.

do both, is the course full time/part time. could you cut the hours in your job to work part time.
its always good to have money coming in.
Or apply for the course and start saving so you will have some sort of financial stability.
