A friend of mine bought a new HDTV and surround sound audio system this week, and I've been helping her get it set up. We initially tried routing an HDMI from the Xbox 360 to the reciever (into the port labeled "game"), and then another HDMI from the reciever output port to the televsion. We were able to get audio from the 360, but no video. When we connected the 360 to the HDTV directly and used an optical cable to route audio from the console to the receiver, we got it working correctly. The issue is -- she's considering getting another console and/or a Blu-Ray, and it would be more effience to route all components through the receiver.
How do we do that and still get video? Was there a setting somewhere that I missed?
I'd also like to know because I'm considering upgrading to a similar setup myself, and as an owner of multiple consoles I'd like to keep the wires to a minimum -- so having each console connected directly to two devices is not optimal.
