Every time I try to go to the Hollywood Sign I get lost and end up in the wrong mountain...help me please and get 10 points! Directions from West LA please...
well you turn left make a couple of rights ... watch out for the cops with the radar gun... easy revenue for the city with all the speeders in the area. and once you get to the zone , you are greeted with a big fence, along with a mine field.. just remember the claymores are not armed, but whatever you do, DON'T step on the tripwire, otherwise you will only need to buy one shoe, IF you survive the initial blast.
First of all, you cannot drive up there. Back in the old days, you could get a lot closer when the mountain roads in Griffith Park were opened. But now, the best way to get up there is to start at Sunset Stables and hike up. Follow the trail to the right of the sign, which goes behind Mt. Lee, then circles back around to the front. You can see the sign from behind, through a fence.
Sorry hon, you're mostly out of luck. The city has blocked every access to the Hollywood sign with fences and gates. If you can pick locks and climb 10 foot fences, maybe you can get up there, but otherwise you just can't get up there anymore. The closest you can get is via neighborhoods in the Hollywood Hills, but you'll be standing in people's yards and they're pretty vigilant about folks doing so. But even if they didn't notice you, you'd still be at least a quarter of a mile from the actual sign.
The upshot of all of this: Regular folks can't get to the Hollywood sign any more. It's all blocked off.
