Do all high school basketball coaches do this?

We had tryouts yesterday and i got dressed, went into the gym, but before i got to touch a basketball the coach told me to leave cause im too short? I'm about 5'4-5'5 at 14 with my shoes on. I've been practicing all year, so can i go complain to someone so I can atleast tryout? This is freshmen tryouts btw.
i forgot to mention my friend got accepted to the team and he didnt even tryout. Hes 5'6 and his sister is dating the head coach... I think this is really fucking stupid.
 
Wow, that's really unfair!! Maybe you could go talk to the athletic director, or maybe the coach and tell him that it's not right to not even let you tryout because you're short.
 
that is the gayest thing ever talk to the athletics director or sue him
 
Thats BS. I was 5'1 my freshman year and I made the team easy. One of our best varsity point guards was onlly 5'3. As for your friend, that's not normal, but not surprising. All coaches play favorites, but never do they discriminate because of height.
 
Yeah, I woulda gotten in his face about it rite then and there to be honest. I dont know who you can talk to, but whatever u do, dont let this slide. Height sint everything in basketball.
