Do bike shorts work well as swimsuit bottoms?

I'm wanting to wear something besides the bottoms I own to swim in since I don't like them, are bike shorts a good option? Any other suggestions are welcome too:-)
 
biker shorts are probably not the best option to wear in the pool, as the fabric will fade, shrink, and the chlorine will deteriorate it. I would suggest board shorts, which are a surfer's pants that can be worn in the water. Most surfing brands such as hurley, roxy, quiksilver, o'neill, billabong, etc. carry board shorts. (you may also be able to get away with a boy's or men's swim trunks.. just wear your bathing suit bottoms as well :D )
