do cops have the right to take pictures of your car for no reason?

i was wonderig im not sure about my rights late one night about 100 am three police officers pull up at teh church beside my home and walk over to my van then proceed to take pictures front back and sides i do not undertsand why they would be doin this. is there some kind of privacy law when your at hom eor something please let me know
yes it was in my driveway and i feel that the police in my very small town have it out for my husband after finding out he was on probation they have made many attempts to get him in trouble i will be the first to say get him if hes doin something wrong breaking the law but i can truthfully say he has done nothing for them to be coming here and taking pictures..is ther such thing as small town cops getten bored and picking on pple?

Was it in your driveway or parked on the street? If it was in the street than anyone can walk up and take photos of your car because it on public property. If it was in your drivweway they can still take photos but have to remain on the sidewlak or street. I`m sure they had probable cause. Why would 3 cops just randomly choose your car for no reason?
 
Yes. If it can be seen from public property, they can take pictures of it. Usually they do it for accident (hit and run) evidence, or to intimidate people (like at a KKK rally). Sometimes its also used to identify people by their plate numbers, like at the kkk rally.

They can not step on private property unless its "public / private property like a shopping center parkinglot.

The area of protection would be if your Van was inside your garage. Anything in open view is open to public view, is not sacred.
 
If the vehicle is on public property , or can be seen from public property , then yes , they can !
