Do guys ever respond to texts if they are not interested in seeing you again?

I went on 2 dates with this guy- I texted him saying, "whats up?" after 4 days of not hearing from him... He texted me back 10 hrs later, saying he was sorry, and that his day was very crazy and hectic, and he might have to go to texas for business this week b.c something happened at the call center for his company, and he should be back early november... Is he truly interested, or is he being "kind" by responding?!

I know that he travels alot for work...He was in Texas before I went on a first date with him. I also am well aware that he's not really looking for anything serious. He told me he's looking for a "friend" or a "date" before meeting him...

I agree with the first answer. he doesn't want a girlfriend he wants someone to call when he wants some. So texting him about your life or whatever probably isn't what he's looking for and responded to be kind. If he was up front with you then thats good at least he's not trying to make you believe he wants more so that you'll give him more.
 
He could be genuine !! He could just be making an excuse ?
I would not put my life on hold for this guy
Just say have a good trip text me when you get back
If he is interested he will
But as for now carry on with your life
 
'friend' or 'date' = bootie call with no strings.

no strings = no texts, etc unless 'let's meet'.

you = didn't get it.
