When I try to start my car, which is very weird, you hear nothing but maybe like a small hum and then absolutly nothing, no clicking or anything, all you see is the lights on the dash board, everything works like the radio, headlights, windows, anything electrical which is why I don't think I need a new battery, but it just won't start. (Now the weird part) If I wait like a hour, the car starts right up out the blue, but now it doesn't, it doesn't do anything but the lights i mentioned before. I was going to purchase a new starter soon, but wanted to be sure I needed one. Any sugestions? (Just recently got a used starter at a junkyard about a couple months ago)

first thing is always clean your battery cables and if it dont start after that jump start it and drive to a shop or parts store and have charging system check on take a minute and most time its free to test and then you dont have to guess and buy something you dont need an dwhy woul done buy something and repalce it if its not broken always check battery cables then belt an dthen jump start and then have it check they can tell you if its battery or starter or alternator in 5 minutes

If any electronics work at all, like your headlights or your stereo, this can not be a dead battery. If these electronics work were else would they get the juice to operate other than the battery. I would take out your starter and have it tested a t your local parts store. It is usually free. There is two major components to a starter. The mechanical part and the electronic solenoid. Either one of these parts could have gone bad.

Spend the extra bucks for a starter from a reputable parts store...sound like there is either a "dead" spot in the commutator or a weak bendix..

First thing is buy a battery brush at auto store. Remove the battery terminals and clean them and the battery posts till they SHINE. If this don't do it then look at the voltmeter on your dash. You should have at least 13 volts. If not you need to have the battery tested at auto supply and maybe get a new one. If you need a new battery be sure to clean the battery posts till they SHINE even a new battery must be cleaned. It is definitely not the starter.
