i had a Kenwood KA894 receiver and it worked great. i have nice floor standing speakers where the bass is just great and good center and surround speakers, i can only put the bass half way because it just shakes the house too much if i go any higher. these sound good enough for me, and almost as good as my brothers setup only he does have floor standing speakers and a powered subwoofer. like i said before it really sounds great to me and i don't see the need to incur an additional expense of a subwoofer.
anyway, i am in the market for a new receiver as my kenwood recently went out on me(after about 15years). i plugged my speakers into a home theater in a box system i have in a room, and it sounded terrible and i needed to plug up the sub from the home theater in a box so i got some bass. now my question is, what kind of receiver should i be looking for? my kenwood receiver didn't even have a subwoofer connection but i notice that all the new receivers i have looked at have the sub connection so i am worried that i will have to buy a sub.
so in conclusion, i am looking for a receiver that will sound good WITHOUT the need of a SUBWOOFER, as i have really good sounding floor speakers with plenty of bass.
